The Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Mrs. Amal Abdel Latif, presided over the opening of the information day on equipped mobile laboratories on Monday, November 24, 2025, in the presence of the representative of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, responsible for the general secretariat, the Secretary-General of the Ministry, the Chief of Staff, sector officials, as well as the directors of affiliated organisations and representatives of the General Customs Directorate, in addition to representatives from various media outlets.

On this occasion, the Minister inspected the eight (08) mobile laboratories acquired from the Algerian vehicle manufacturing company SAFAB-MB, affiliated with the Ministry of National Defence, and equipped with the most modern technologies to support the national control system.

Mrs. Amal Abdel Latif confirmed in her opening speech that the organisation of this information day is part of the State's efforts to protect the consumer and ensure the compliance of products traded on the national market with national and international standards, thus implementing the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at strengthening analytical control and facilitating import operations without compromising the safety and health of the consumer.

The minister explained that the new mobile laboratories will help strengthen the analytical control of imported products thanks to precise and advanced equipment, reduce analysis times, especially for perishable products, expedite the processing of economic operators' files, reduce the stay time of containers in ports, and lower import costs, while allowing control teams to intervene quickly across the entire national territory.

Ms. Amel Abdel Latif also emphasised that these laboratories have advanced analytical capabilities, including the detection of pesticide residues, chemicals, and pollutants, the analysis of grains and plant materials, the detection of mycotoxins, the measurement of moisture in food products, and other precise scientific analyses. These mobile laboratories will be installed at the most active maritime entry points: Algiers, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Béjaïa, Oran, Mostaganem, and Ghazaouet, which will help strengthen control at the entry points for goods.

As part of the promotion of digital transformation, the minister emphasised the importance of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) project aimed at improving data accuracy and real-time information exchange, as well as the National Digital Laboratory Map (GEOLAB) project, which represents an intelligent platform that gathers data on analytical capabilities, equipment, and human skills of laboratories in the sector.

the minister emphasised a series of directives to ensure the success of this system, the most important being the strengthening of human and technical capacities through continuous training, the harmonisation of analysis methods between mobile and fixed laboratories to ensure the credibility of results, the strengthening of coordination among the various concerned services to guarantee the efficiency of performance, and the acceleration of the digitisation of procedures to improve monitoring and expedite decision-making.

In conclusion, the Minister presented the certificates of appointment to the directors of the mobile laboratories at the maritime border crossing points, so that they can officially begin their duties and strengthen the preparation of these laboratories to ensure the execution of control missions under the best conditions.
