Strengthening economic partnerships and expanding prospects for trade and investment cooperation

The Algerian-Belarusian Economic Forum, which was held on Monday in Algiers, under the supervision of the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Mrs. Amel Abdellatifal, and the Belarusian Minister of Anti-Monopoly Regulation and Trade Regulation, Mr. Artur Karpovich, allowed for the examination of ways to strengthen economic partnerships between the two parties and to reaffirm their commitment to expanding the prospects for commercial and investment cooperation.

Ms. Abdellatif explained that this forum is part of "Algeria and Belarus' commitment to establishing a strategic vision for deepening economic partnership, in line with the growing political dynamics that mark bilateral relations."

"The meeting provided an opportunity to examine practical processes to develop the partnership, explore investment opportunities, exchange expertise within the framework of bilateral cooperation, and strengthen joint projects in vital sectors, with the aim of promoting economic development and strengthening trade relations between the two countries," she added.

In this regard, the minister affirmed "the full availability of the Algerian government to support all investment initiatives, through customs and tax incentives, procedural facilitation, and the provision of industrial land, thereby ensuring the success and acceleration of the implementation of joint projects, emphasising the advantages offered by the investment climate in Algeria to foreign investors," thanks to the "profound economic reforms" undertaken by Algeria in recent years under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

She emphasised Algeria's determination to continue diversifying economic partnerships and to leverage available potential within the framework of balanced and mutually beneficial cooperation, opening promising prospects for Algerian-Belarusian cooperation, particularly in the sectors of industry, agriculture, mechanics, digitisation, and the pharmaceutical industry.

In this context, the minister considers this forum as an essential platform to re-evaluate the level of trade exchanges, which did not exceed 34.54 million dollars during the first nine (9) months of 2025, in order to "bring them to a level that reflects the depth of the excellent political and historical relations between Algeria and Belarus and the great economic potential that both countries possess."

Mr. Karpovich stated that the 2nd Algerian-Belarusian Economic Forum holds particular importance as it takes place in "a historical context" marked by the first official visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, scheduled in Algeria, a visit that "opens a new chapter in the history of our relations and offers broad prospects for fruitful cooperation between our two countries."

He emphasised the symbolism of holding this forum at a time when both countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, specifying that the forum aims to contribute to the creation of a solid platform to develop bilateral cooperation and strengthen trade relations.

"Active cooperation between businessmen is the way to strengthen bilateral trade, adding that "making additional efforts will allow both parties to exploit the available potential." He stressed the importance of using the tools provided by the Joint Commission for Commercial, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

He also encouraged the strengthening of cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries, which allows for the establishment of direct contacts, the exchange of expertise, and the development of short- and medium-term strategic plans, calling for participation in events and exhibitions in both countries.

The Forum was marked by the signing of several cooperation agreements and the organisation of direct meetings (B2B) between Algerian and Belarusian economic operators.
