The launch ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, in the presence of the Minister of Intranal Trade and National Market Regulation, Ms. Amal Abdel Latif, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamal Rezik, and the President of the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, Mr. Saleh Belaid.
This glossary includes a trilingual glossary (Arabic, French, English) comprising over 1450 terms used in various fields of trade and economics, with an explanation accompanying each term, in addition to a collection of related administrative documents.
The glossary includes three main areas: foreign trade and export promotion, internal trade and national market regulation, and monitoring and fraud suppression, according to the explanations provided during the launch ceremony.
By the way, Ms. Abdel Latif highlighted the importance of this glossary, affirming that it "is not just a linguistic work, but a practical tool to enhance coordination between various bodies, facilitate communication among economic operators, and improve the quality of economic and commercial discourse."
For his part, Mr. Rzeiq considered that the issuance of this guide constitutes "an important step in the process of modernising and developing the commercial system and enhancing transparency in commercial transactions, as it will contribute to standardising the terms used to achieve the use of correct, simple, and precise vocabulary that is accessible to all stakeholders in the sector."
The minister also called for this glossary to be adopted as a practical and linguistic reference for professionals in the sector, with its use being extended to broader categories such as researchers, students, and economic operators.
The importance of this glossary is particularly evident, as she mentioned, considering the issues caused by the "variation in the use of technical terms in interpreting legal texts, applying regulatory rules, and handling the files of economic operators, in addition to its direct impact on the effectiveness of oversight, consumer protection, and market regulation."
For his part, Mr. Saleh Belaid stated that this guide is "the result of continuous scientific work, benefiting from the council's previous achievements in preparing functional glossary as well as from the references used in the trade sector, according to a precise methodology adopted by the specialised committee, supported by mechanisms for continuous monitoring and evaluation."
In this context, the President of the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language emphasised the importance of standardising specialised terminology and the role of this guide in supporting institutional communication and promoting the use of the Arabic language in the economic and commercial fields.
During the launch ceremony, the two ministers, along with the President of the Supreme Council for the Arabic Language, honoured the members of the scientific committee who contributed to the preparation of this glossary.
